Default [Dixonary] OT: Backup Software

I have been using my own system for backing up my computer. Basically I
run a .bat file that copies files to an external drive.

I have decided that maybe this is a little too informal. So I have been
considering a product called iDrive.

I am trying to find out something about it. The first question is
whether it will run on my computer which is, at present, running Windows
Vista. I think the most recent version of iDrive may not work with
Vista. iDrive has been around for awhile, which means that even if the
current version doesn't work with Vista, it might be possible to get an
earlier version that will run under Vista.

Another question is whether iDrive runs all the time. I care about this
because when I am not using my computer, I turn it off. If iDrive (or
anything else, for that matter) runs continuously, shutting off the
computer may be a problem.

When I say I turn off the computer, I mean I close anything that's
running, and turn the power off. If Drive never stops running,Â* and in
fact cannot be stopped, I will no longer be able to turn the computer
off. Or rather, doing so may cause a problem for iDrive.--
