Default [Dixonary] ROUND 2980 - QUADRATURA - VOTE NOW!

Here are 14 definitions for the word QUADRATURA...but only one is correct. Please send your votes (by responding to this email) for what you believe are two definitions most likely to have come from a dictionary. The deadline for voting is Friday, May 3, at 6 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings time. As usual, I will let you determine the time in your time zone. :-)

Any misspellings, weird spacing, etc., are my fault and not an indication of the accuracy of a particular definition.

Good luck!

1. An advisory council or assembly.
2. The annual parallax of a fixed star.
3. An a capella quartet.
4. A trip broken down into 4 legs.
5. A musical piece in four sections that can be performed starting with any of them and continuing in sequence.
6. A voltmeter
7. Wall or ceiling painted with arches and columns in strong perspective.
8. adj; of the overgrown quad muscles of a body-builder that look almost square.
9. [Math.] a method of spline or polynomial interpolation using a piecewise polynomial parametric curve.
10. To achieve balance.
11. A group of four drum beats produced by using alternate sticks in the pattern right-left-right-right or left-right-left-left.
12. An art style in which much use is made of straight lines and right angles.
13. An iron-bound cabinet for storing valuables.
14. An orchestra conductor's podium.

5 and 11 this time out. 14 was tempting, but I could not fathom any
connection.

Please send your votes (by responding to this email) for what you believe are two definitions most likely to have come from a dictionary. The deadline for voting is Friday, May 3, at 6 p.m. Eastern Daylight Savings time. As usual, I will let you determine the time in your time zone. :-)

No, I really meant 6 pm. It's after 10 here. I should go to sleep before I dig myself in even deeper.
