[Dixonary] Round 2930.3 DOLMEN vote
Thanks everyone for bearing with me through three words. I have well over a
dozen dictionaries of various sorts, but I still have some trouble finding a word that most of us don't know. We've got an assortment of definitions here. Most of them are shameless attempts to steal your vote, but one has been confirmed by at least one trustworthy source of definitions. Vote however you like, but preferably for two definitions, and only two. You can vote if you're new. Or old. Or if you didn't provide a definition. Or if you did. But if you already know the real definition, voting for it is frowned upon. Place your vote by replying publicly to this post via email or the Google groups site. Shouting your vote is not recommended, as it's far more likely to disturb your neighbors than to be tallied properly. Anyway, here are the definitions: 1. full-length sleeves that are fitted near the elbow and then open up as they move down to the wrist, eventually forming a cuff at the end with buttons 2. to glide in an airplane 3. one of the very small, linked and movable bones in the ear 4. second prize 5. a single-chamber megalithic tomb. 6. a small coracle like boat found exclusively on the Isle of Arran 7. the soft feathery material which protects the fruiting part of a thistle 8. a soft leather garment worn under plate armor to reduce chafing 9. [Scots] a statue of a demon at a church entrance 10. a tax or toll levied on merchants 11. a thick horizontal member above the openings for doors and windows in a brick structure Any errors in the definitions are mine, and I worry that I definitely made a few, as there were three different words amongst almost as many DQs as I have dictionaries. As always, tips and tricks are welcomed. Please vote by 00:00 UTC Tuesday, 16 October, and adjust for your time zone as needed. Should give everyone around 34 hours. Thanks!
