[Dixonary] Round 2966 Results
Hi all
Votes are in and our winner is (I think) Efrem with 5 natural points. Efrem tied with Dave and Tim, but Tim's points were unnatural and Dave is below him in the rolling scores. I'm sure someone will let me know if I've got this wrong. Also, I noted that Guerri cast a vote for #5 Pig-iron used as ballast in ship's hold. But that def was actually #4, so I have assumed that Guerri voted for 4 not 5. This gives a vote to Judy (instead of Debbie). It makes no difference to the winner, but perhaps Guerri could confirm which number she intended to vote for (and the points can be adjusted if I've made the wrong assumption). 1. An exemplar. Tony A, who didn’t vote. Score: 2 Votes from Tim L & Johnny B. 2. A tennis player. OED D2. Votes from Tim L & Johnny B. 3. A curtain hung in a doorway. Guerri S, who voted 4(?) & 11. Score: 1 Vote from Judy M. 4. Pig-iron used as ballast in ship's hold. Judy M, who voted 3 & 10. Score: 1 Vote from Guerri (?) 5. A long-distance romantic relationship. Debbie E, who voted 6 & 11. Score: 0 6. [Tamil-English nonce word] a post-box. Dave C, who voted 7 & 8. Score: 5 Votes from Mike S, Dan W, Debbie E, Chris C & Keith H. 7. A sweet spread or pastry filling made of prunes or apricots. Chris C, who voted 6 & 11. Score: 1 Vote from Dave C. 8. In South Asia, husks and broken straw, used as food for cattle. Tim L, who voted 1 & *2*. Score: 5 Votes from Dave C, Efrem M & Keith H. 9. A furrowing and planting module for use with a combine harvester. Ryan M, who didn’t vote. Score: 0 10. An inclosing frame; esp. the framework around a door or a window. Dan W, who voted 6 & 11. Score: 1 Vote from Judy M. 11. In equestrian competition, a horse jump with two rails at different heights. Efrem M, who voted 8 & 12. Score: 5 Votes from Mike S, Dan W, Debbie E, Chris C & Guerri S. 12. A fitting on a gaff pole that allows the sail to be raised by a single halyard. Mike S, who voted 6 & 11. Score: 1 Vote from Efrem M. 13. A version of the Eton wall game where hitting [ketching] the umpire [pillar] in the calx area of the court is penalised by the offender's team losing possession of the ball. Johnny B, who voted 1 & *2*. Score: 2 No def: Keith H, who voted 6 & 8. Score: 0 -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Dixonary" group. Re: [Dixonary] Round 2966 Results
OK with me a long as I don't end up the "winner" as a result. It is, a
game, just a game.
