Default [Dixonary] Vote in Round 2876: ABOMASUM

Folks,

Here are a dozen excellent definitions of ABACULUS. One of them is correct. They have been edited for format consistency and are in ascending order by character count, which may not correspond to visual length in your email display font. Please vote for two that you like for any reason (such as, but not necessarily, thinking that they might be correct) by public Reply to this message before the deadline that follows the list.

1. a procurator.

2. an oddity or nonesuch.

3. a male boa constrictor.

4. a hackneyed phrase or saying.

5. the fourth stomach of a ruminant.

6. a niche for a relic in a church or chapel.

7. a beam supporting the front of a building.

8. an animal pen enclosed by a hedge of thorn bushes.

9. a type of melon found in New Guinea and northern Australia.

10. something monstrous or portentous; a shocking sight, sorry spectacle, disgraceful thing.

11. a room near the kitchen where meals are staged and dressed before they are taken to the dining room.

12. [Min.] A substance, somewhat resembling wax, found in connection with certain deposits of rock salt and coal.

The deadline for voting is 44 hours from now: 9 am on Tuesday, March 6, in US EST. According to timeanddate.com <http://timeanddate.com/>, that is:

and other times in other places. You may want to check the conversion that applies to you. That site, though good, doesn't claim to be perfect. The North American and European times look right to me, but I'm less sure of the Antipodean conversions, and we're approaching the season when places adjuxt their clocks forward or backward on what sometimes seem to be random dates..

New players are welcome to vote, even if you didn't submit a definition for this word - as are, of course, veteran players who happened not to. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> .

Happy voting,

Efrem
