Default [Dixonary] Round 2893 (AMADAVAT) voting time

Folks,

A healthy fifteen possible definitions of AMADAVAT follow. One is correct. The others are the products of your collective minds. They have been edited for format consistency and are in order by character count, which may not correspond to visual length in your email display font. Please vote for two that you like for any reason (such as, but not necessarily, thinking that they might be correct) by public Reply to this message before the deadline that follows the list.

1. a former lover.

2. a financially unreliable bank.

3. an unfavorable remark; a criticism.

4. a person who maintains another's wardrobe.

5. a small coin of Assam from the 16th century.

6. the strawberry finch, also known as the red waxbill.

7. a Moroccan beverage made from twice-fermented loquat fruit.

8. prolonged complaint; angry or cautionary harangue; lamentation.

9. in pre-Imperial India, a roadside lodging-house managed by the local ruler.

10. a special sect of Buddhism open only to Thai royalty; a priest of that sect.

11. a kind of household vessel for brewing beer or storing water. [Fr. "a dame vat"]

12. [Heb.] someone who is certain they are competent to do something when they are not.

13. a sailing navigation instrument that measures wind speed, wind direction, relative humidity and wind chill.

14. liable to impression from without; easily affected; also, readily moved or affected by natural agents; delicate.

15. a decorative edging of cut work or vandyking, esp. on a collar, sleeve, or ruff. Also: a type of wide collar decorated in this way, fashionable in the early 17th cent.

The deadline for voting is 43 hours from now: 9 am on Sunday, May 13, in US EDT. According to timeanddate.com <http://timeanddate.com/>, that is:

and other times in other places. Please check any conversion that applies to you. That site is good, but nobody's perfect.

New players are welcome to vote, even if you didn't submit a definition for this word - as are, of course, veteran players who happened not to. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> .

Happy voting,

Efrem

5. a small coin of Assam from the 16th century.

9. in pre-Imperial India, a roadside lodging-house managed by the local
ruler.

P.S. I would love to have someone maintain my wardrobe! I hate shopping.
