Default [Dixonary] Round 3041, EPHOR

Folks,

The word for round 3041 is:

*********************
EPHOR
*********************

where capitalization has no significance. (In a previous email I suggested that it makes the word easier to read, but another player informed me that it doesn't. If upper-case letters don't float your boat, think of the word as ephor.)

Please send invented definitions of EPHOR (or ephor) by private email to emallach at verizon dot net in the next 46+ hours, by 9 am US EST on Sat., Jan. 11. If you know what it means, please let me know ASAP the same way. If enough people know it I'll pick another - hopefully in time to keep the same deadline. Don't Reply to this message without changing its To field. That would send your message to the whole group. If I had paid attention to that in Round 3040, I probably wouldn't be dealing now. Don't suffer the same fate!

According to timeanddate.com <http://timeanddate.com/>, the deadline is:

and other times in other places. You might want to confirm any conversion that affects you. That site's good, but nobody's perfect.

I expect votes to be due 48 hours later, 9 am Sunday in the eastern U.S..

New players are welcome. (So are old ones who've been quiet for a while. We still love you.) Just send me a definition that you invented without looking EPHOR up. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules>.

And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming ...

Efrem

With the right music, you either forget everything...OR, you remember

That was not intended to be a NAD. I hadn't noticed that the message to which I was replying was
sent from the group! Normally replying does exactly what I want it to do. I should have read the
fine print in Efrem's announcement of the word, but it was too small to read!

Another def on its way soon, but I'm afraid it won't be as good as that one.

Best wishes,
Tim Bourne.

Actually, it’s not quite that simple. While the reply-to is set by the group, your email itself shows as being “from” the group—see how you are quoted below with a simple reply.

This is something unique with your setup, and anybody else on the group (see how Tim’s email is quoted by you) and even if we type “Efrem” in our address line it is more likely to match this “wrong” address. We have to specifically type your email address and not your name to send the message.

I don’t know what setting you have on this mailing list/account, but the problem is on your end, or ours or the group’s.

That's the desired behavior for voting and for pretty much every other message, so it seemed reasonable to make it the default.
