Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote!
Hi Shani,
If permitted I would cast two votes at definintion #1. But it isnt, so my second vote is for #16 -Â* not because I believe it but because I can relate to it just after having cataracts surgery (including some complications). Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote!
I'm sorry to hear about your cataract surgery complications. My husband
and I had our cataract surgeries some time ago. I always thought that if one lived long enough, cataracts were inevitable. But someone told me that is not the case. If true, I wonder whether this is just a matter of better genes, or whether there are lifestyle choices that make a difference. Personally, I have never liked having things done to my eyes. Or my teeth, for that matter. Or when it comes right down to it, to any of my body parts! Ahhh. A feast of quality AND quantity! Featuring a tantalising pair of
pairs. Fraternal twins 1 & 4 - and the paradoxically un-moderate moderation siblings 9 & 11. I'll select one from each pair, but which? Beg pardon? I can't hear your answer. Heh. Well, ... i'm suddenly fickle, and will go instead for the frequently popular <1st+last> for me, then. 1 & 16, please! I'll cast both my votes for a Greek appetizer, though the series of extra spaces in #13 make me think that, of those two, #7 is more likely.

Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote!
My grandmother died at 94 and never needed cataract surgery, and my mother died at 85 without the need for cataract surgery. My assumption is "good genes." Unfortunately, my father had all kinds of eye issues (cataract surgery, detached retains surgery, and macular degeneration), so it will be interesting to see whose genes have affected me the most, at least "eyewise."

Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote!
I'm 53. In the prep room before the operation I was sitting with people 20 to 30 years older than me.Â*
The reason of this result cataract is a retinal detachment early last year. That was fixed but I was warned about a very high chance of a cataract. Turns out they were right.Â* According to the surgeon, during the operation pressure was building in my eye and she was afraid the new lens would be dislocated as a result. She sutured the lens just in time and then ordered some additional checkups to be done. I had a lot of pain in the 24 hours after the surgery but that has now subsided. A check yesterday showed that everything is looking very good now.Â* As much as I agree with your hesitation on having my body parts handled by others than myself or my wife, I do see the benefits of surgery. Without the retinal detachment surgery last year I would have been blind in one eye. Now I retained vision and after a few more days recovery should have even better vision than before!Â* Cheers,Â*Hugo Verzonden vanaf mijn Samsung Galaxy-smartphone. -------- Oorspronkelijk bericht --------Van: Guerri Stevens <guerri (AT) guerristevens (DOT) com> Datum: 07-09-18 15:34 (GMT+00:00) Aan: dixonary (AT) googlegroups (DOT) com Onderwerp: Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote! Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote!
Sounds like a lot of us have a seeing-eye-spouse! My husband has had
cataract surgery in both eyes plus an "inconvenient" slipped implanted lens that required a very delicate surgery to reset. My eye doctor, on the other hand, recently told me I had the eyes of a 40 year old (insert laughter) in spite of my very bad near-sightedness! Re: [Dixonary] Round 2920 ANTIGROPELOS time to vote!
I'm glad things are on the mend. My husband has had retinal problems. He
had his cataract surgery before I did. Which allowed me to believe that I would survive my own. My theory is that we are not intended to live forever. So to prevent that, we have been designed to have things happen which will shorten our lives. Medical advances can thwart some of them. Eyes, for instance: in times past we would become nearsighted or have cataracts, etc. Therefore we would miss the sabre toothed tiger getting ready to pounce. We have witnessed the aging and deaths of our parents. And we have told ourselves that there could be some benefit in a sudden fatal heart attack or stroke. The disadvantage is that you don't get to say "goodbye". Guerri On 9/7/2018 1:39 PM, hugo wrote: > I'm 53.
