Default [Dixonary] Round 2998 KILDERKIN results

Folks,

A kilderkin is an 18-gallon unit of measure, more or less, or a wine/beer barrel of that size: definition #8. The "kin" ending means "small," and is also found in the more common "firkin" - an even smaller beer barrel. It is unrelated, as far as I know, to family or kinship. Five perceptive players voted for it, giving me a not-very-impressive D5, and John Barrs knew it from the get-go.

As for the fakes: our two Tims, Lodge with his trivial fragment and Bourne with his close friend considered family, each got four points. Both got two points for voting for the beer barrel, so that tie-breaker was of no help. They also both have 12 points in the four-round rolling scores. However, Mr. Lodge is ahead in both the 5-round rolling scores and the cumulative scores since the game began, so he earns the next deal. Tim B. landed the coveted traditional "winnah" spot.

Full results:

1. a fragment; a trivial amount. From Lodge, T. who voted *8*, 11. Voted for by: Bourne, T.; Naylor, S. Score: 4.

2. a flat-bottomed, usually ceramic, bowl. From Abell, T. who did not vote. Voted for by: Shefler, M.; Madnick, J.; Kornelis, H. Score: 3.

3. a clay baking vessel for cooking roasts, stews, etc. From Shefler, M. who voted 2, 9. Voted for by: Embler, D.; Madnick, J. Score: 2.

4. a corner adobe fireplace found in many western U.S. homes. From Embler, D. who voted 3, *8*. Voted for by: None. Score: 2.

5. someone who is considered family though not actually related. From Bourne, T. who voted 1, *8*. Voted for by: Widdis, D.; Kornelis, H. Score: 4.

6. a unit of liquid measure that is equal to 0.9 US pint (0.43 liter). From Madnick, J. who voted 2, 3. Voted for by: None. Score: 0.

7. a small four-wheeled carriage for children, drawn by a single horse. From Naylor, S. who voted 1, *8*. Voted for by: None. Score: 2.

8. a measure of volume equal to 18 gallons; a wine or beer cask holding about that amount. From Dictionary which could not vote. Voted for by: Lodge, T.; Embler, D.; Bourne, T.; Naylor, S.; Widdis, D. Score: D5.

9. a dam constructed of concrete and/or masonry on the outside but having a hollow interior filled with unshaped or uncoursed stones or rubble. From Widdis, D. who voted 5, *8*. Voted for by: Shefler, M. Score: 3.

10. adults living in with older family members (usually parents) in a largely separate and independent part of the home, e.g. an attic or a cellar. From Kornelis, H. who voted 2, 5. Voted for by: None. Score: 0.

11. [Legal] a male cousin-german, a true first cousin—the son of one's uncle or aunt; the female equivalent, 'dotherkin' is very rare and not evidenced since AD1353. From Barrs, J. who declared himself DQ. Voted for by: Lodge, T. Score: 1.

For those who prefer tables the results in that form are below, in descending order of scores without regard for tie-breaking rules.
