[Dixonary] OT: AVG Antivirus software

This morning AVG updated itself without my permission. I now have a
totally different version. I mean not an update of the old version. The
new version has an entirely different look and feel. In addition, it
didn't keep historical information, such as the date of the last scan.

So two questions: is there any way to get the old version back?

Is there any way to get information on the new version? Yes I could
probably bring up the blasted thing and maybe there is help of some kind.

AVG is free, so perhaps I am being unfair about this.

And yes, I said 2 questions, but here is number 3: what are others of
you using for virus protection?
