Default [Dixonary] PHEAZAR defs!

Kindly vote for two hereof before 8 a.m. EST on Wednesday 29 November
without looking the word up.

1. a tedious task
2. a charm or amulet
3. prehistoric lake dwelling
4. _perh_ one who feezes.
5. a closely woven silk with a crisp finish
6. Having the quality of newness; novelty.
7. A minor tax-collecting official of the Ottoman Empire.
8. A ceremonial torchlight procession to celebrate a marriage.
9. One who carries and swings the thurible in an Orthodox church.
10. a mixture of gold and antimony thought in mediaeval times to have
medicinal properties
11. in Mongolian cooking, a steamed dumpling of meat and vegetables,
usually eaten cold.
12. a functionary in Mesopotamia who assured the calibration of scale
weights used in trade.
13. a beard with straight sideburns, bare chin, and a carefully groomed
mustache on upper and lower lips (after Edwin Pheazar, British naturalist
1832-1911)

As usual, errors are the fault of the dealer.

Dave

Since I have no idea, I'll take 1 and 13 to prove that I read'em all.

I will have very limited Internet access between 11/29 and 12/10, so I will be unavailable to "deal" should that miracle occur.

Sorry, Judy, but this doesn't prove you read them all. It doesn't even prove that you read any of them. It proves only that you looked down the left to find the highest definition number.

(I believe you when you say that you read them, though.)

I'll fall for 4 and 12:

4. _perh_ one who feezes.

12. a functionary in Mesopotamia who assured the calibration of scale
weights used in trade.

12 because it’s most likely to be true and 4 because it’s most likely not to be.

Default [Dixonary] PHEAZAR defs!

Of the options no one has chosen, these seem the most likely to me to be
plausible:

3 & 8

Waiting another few hours is NOT going to help. I don't think the final "ar" is related to the English suffix "er," but I'll go for two people anyhow: 7 and 9.
