Default [Dixonary] GYASCUTUS Update

Ryan,

I don't know if it's relevant but on my email client your announcement message is 3 layers down in an email chain. That may have obscured it to others. I'm not sure I would have seen it if I were looking now. Outlook (which is what I use - ugh!) seems to be doing some strange things with email chains, or 'converstaions' as they term them. I'm going to have to look at my settings again and see if I can find where the handling of conversations is addressed. Long chains of emails are a major PITA to me. And I may have just started one <lol> but I hope not. Instead of replying, I'm sending a new message.

Chris,

There should be a "Show as Conversations" check box in the View tab that you can toggle on and off, globally or per folder. Its default is On, so if you didn't change anything, that's what you have.

Default RE: [Dixonary] GYASCUTUS Update

Actually I have that turned off. I’m beginning to think there must be a hidden setting somewhere. Ryan’s announcement, on my system, begins with a message to Shani commenting on her NAD which was sent as a reply to his announcement. That all appears as one chain or three messages complete with indents. I’m wondering if the group is getting in the act and what we’re seeing is what the group is doing. I’m a member of several groups on groups.io and they generate some horrendously long and convoluted email chains which are a pain to decipher..

I think it’s the group. There is an option to show messages as conversations grouped as topics. That evidently carries over to the email that the group sends to the members.

Chris,

This exact behavior (except in gmail) is why I use the forum as my primary
means of contact.
