Default [Dixonary] NEW WORD

>> Now it looks like Wayne Scott may send a word. What to do? What
>> to do?

It appears that Wayne HAS posted a word. I don't know, Fran. The rules say
only that if the person who should be the next dealer hasn't announced a
new word after a full 24 hours, the next in line (that's you) is the
dealer.

Wayne posted a word around 40 hours after the end of the last round--and of
course meanwhile, you had posted one (well, two, in fact!).

I guess Wayne never saw your word; don't know why!

I don't recall this ever coming up since I've been playing. Maybe somebody
who's been in the game longer can say what happens in such a case.

My own judgment (if that somehow counts since I was the last dealer) is
that, Wayne having defaulted, and you having become the dealer by
announcing a new word--you are in fact the dealer and Wayne should reserve
his word and we are all honor-bound (or, as the case may be with some of
us, honour-bound) not to look it up, so he can use it next time he's the
dealer.

But let's see what the group thinks.

Now, I gotta go watch "Jeopardy".

Franny, I have only received one. Since I'm flopping around Honolulu
and have patchy access to the internet, I would be very appreciative if
you would go ahead and deal.

The first word I'll try is:

operon

Lower & upper case are unimportant.
Please send DQ's or definitions to waynescottmd (AT) earthlink (DOT) net by noon PDT, Thursday, Aug. 20.

Wayne, can you specify a new deadline? The rules say it should be at
least 24 hours after announcing the new word, and noon today (Thursday)
is only 14 hours based on the timestamp of your message as delivered to
me by Email.

Don't worry, Guerri, you have plenty of time.

Thursday August 20 isn't until 2009.

Dah Winah was Dave Cunningham. I sent him an email to tell him he'd won,
but there's been no response so far. He didn't vote either, so maybe he's
away or unwell. As it's been 24 hours since I posted the results, I
suppose the deal should pass to the next in line, Mike Shefler, or failing
him, Chris Carson.
