Default [Dixonary] Round 2823: Vote for SKEIF definitions

Folks,

Thirteen definitions of SKEIF follow. One is its real meaning. The others are your fellow players' efforts to deceive you. They have been edited for format consistency and are in order by character count, which may not correspond to visual length. Please vote for two that you like for any reason (such as, but not necessarily, thinking that they might be correct) by public reply to this message before the deadline that follows the list.

1. a kind of canoe.

2. a revolving door.

3. to cheat; swindle.

4. a large pouch or bag.

5. [Sc.] a miserly person.

6. a diamond cutter's polishing wheel.

7. [Antiq.] a kind of large drinking cup.

8. a detachable strap for a handbag or backpack.

9. rough limestone country with underground drainage.

10. wax used to fill in between pieces of a glass mosaic.

11. a subsidiary wheel to a spinning wheel on which a skein of wool is created.

12. a coastal landscape of sand dunes and mudflats, typical of the Friesian Islands.

13. a primitive rabbit-skin glue that included wheat flour with the rendered collagen. It was primarily used in the sizing or priming of oil painters' canvases.

The deadline for votes is 47+ hours from now: 8 am on Saturday, August 5, in the eastern U.S. I think that is also, on the same date:

7 am U.S. CDT
5 am U.S. PDT
1 pm in the U.K.
2 pm in continental Europe
10 pm in Melbourne
11:59 pm plus one minute in Wellington

New players are welcome to vote, even if you didn't submit a definition for this word - as are, of course, veteran players who happened not to. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> .

Default RE: [Dixonary] Round 2823: Vote for SKEIF definitions

(I did receive the original post.)

And here are my votes:

3. to cheat; swindle (to go with the lone verb)
and
11. a subsidiary wheel to a spinning wheel on which a skein of wool is created.
