Default quoteback markup tags

Are there any other markup tags that one can use to delimit quotebacks?

I noticed that the thread tree "skips over" the "[quote]" style quotebacks and "jumps" to the actual "new" reply text. This is a handy and reasonable feature.

In Yahoo groups, the server "skips over" the leading "---" dashes and the ">" quote back marked text to "jump" to the new reply text, in an analogous manner.

Would the ">" prefix markup also work like that here? Seems like it should or at least that might be a server side option since that convention is quite common, at least in email mesaging.

If successful, the first four lines of message will NOT appear in thread tree.

It's possible in the software to define custom tags but the tags have to be opened and closed. So just defining > wouldn't work.

Well, the existing quote tag works well enough. So it's probably not worth additional effort to make any alternative.

Thanks for checking.
