Default [Dixonary] Round 2787: PUGNOZZLE results!

Efrem Mallach earns the next deal with 5 votes for his coarse cloth, while Tim Bourne can enjoy "real winner" status with four votes for his snub-nose teapot.

The OED added several new words between proter and purposive in September 2007, and pugnozzle was among them.Â* The first recorded use of the word was by Nobel laureate Samuel Beckett, who may have invented it himself.Â* Several other new p-words by Beckett were included in the addition. I won’t list them because I might use them in the future.

I nearly fooled all of you with the pug facial expression, but the unfoolable John Barrs was amused enough at the def, and thought that mixed with the relatively recent etymology of schnozzle, that it may be a 20th century author's invention.Â* So while the scoreboard shows a D1, I'll score myself a proud 'B0'.
