Default [Dixonary] Round 3056 THRASONICAL results

Hi all!

I don't know exactly how many of you all live in the US and are therefore
experiencing some Daylight Savings lag (somewhere near half?), but my
apologies to the rest of you for neglecting to consider that when selecting
an end time for this round.

Anyway, here are your results for round 3056 for the word THRASONICAL. As
Ephrem surmised, it is indeed eponymous, from Thraso, a boastful character
in Terence's play *Eunuchus*, which I hadn't heard of before Thursday, but
for which Johnny has references aplenty. I used the Collins Dictionary
definition, as it used the same words as Merriam-Webster, sans the bit
about Thraso, and so netted myself a sweet D2 (at least in comparison to
last time). I just noticed that it was the second eponymous word from a
play in a row, which is amusing.

Da Winnah is Dave Cunningham, who received a natural 4 for the conch noise.
"Real" winner honors go to Efrem Mallach with an aberrant 4.

Now, for our tabulation, courtesy of a freshly updated spreadsheet:

1. Boastful; bragging. — defined by
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/us...sh/thrasonical, which
cannot vote, scoring a D2.
Votes from Mallach, A. & Mallach, E.

2. Descriptive of a step or move leading to success. — defined by Bourne,
who voted for 3 & 7, scoring a natural 1.
Vote from Shefler.

3. Highly improbable or illusory. — defined by Carson, who did not vote,
scoring a natural 3.
Votes from Bourne, Naylor, & Widdis.

4. Imperious; demanding. — defined by Shefler, who voted for 2 & 8, scoring
a natural 2.
Votes from Mallach, E. & Naylor.

5. Living at or related to the bottom of a lake or sea. — defined by
Mallach, E., who voted for 1 & 4, scoring an aberrant 4.
Votes from Cunningham & Embler.

6. Melodious, particularly of birdsong. — defined by Lodge, who voted for 9
& 10, scoring a natural 2.
Votes from Cunningham & Madnick.

7. Of or relating to the foretelling of events by or as if by supernatural
means. — defined by Madnick, who voted for 6 & 8, scoring a natural 2.
Votes from Bourne & Widdis.

8. Of or related to the sound produced by blowing a conch shell. — defined
by Cunningham, who voted for 5 & 6, scoring a natural 4.
Votes from Embler; Madnick; Mallach, A.; & Shefler.

9. Pertaining to canon law. — defined by Naylor, who voted for 3 & 4,
scoring a natural 1.
Vote from Lodge.

10. [Burm. Obs] The trumpeting of an elephant as a royal salute. — defined
by Barrs, who was DQ, scoring a natural 1.
Vote from Lodge.

11. Wholly committed to a purpose or cause. — defined by Widdis, who voted
for 3 & 7, scoring a natural 0.
No votes.

No definition from Mallach, A., who voted for 1 & 8, scoring an aberrant 2.

Take it away, Cunningham! (For reals this time.)

Rx.
