Default [Dixonary] Round 2927 vote for NOWTERER

We've got 12 definitions for NOWTERER. Vote for your two favorites no later
than 9 AM EDT, Thursday October 4.

1. a listener; an eavesdropper.

2. one who excessively dwells on past accomplishments.

3. [Brit. Navy] informal/derogatory term for an incompetent officer.

4. a deceptive or devious person.

5. a layabout or slacker; someone who is habitually idle; a do-nothing.

6. a common instrument of Finland and a form of zither.

7. a denier, esp. of the Westminster Confession of Faith.

8. a velvet waistcoat.

9. a cattle-keeper.

10. not timely; unfashionable; antiquated.

11. a pessimist (poss. from nowt 'ere).

12. [Joc.] a nihilist.

I failed to send a definition originally and don't recall receiving a reminder with the list of people who already sent definitions. <sigh>

Oh, well. Here are my votes for what seem like the most unlikely definitions:

8. a velvet waistcoat.
9. a cattle-keeper.
