Default [Dixonary] Round 2967, GINGICH, voting time

Folks,

Twelve definitions of GINGICH follow. They have been edited (very slightly) for format consistency and are in order by character count, which might not correspond to visual length in your email display font.

One of these definitions is correct. The others are the products of your collective minds. Please vote for two that you like for any reason (such as, but not necessarily, thinking that they might be correct) by public Reply to this message before the deadline that follows the list.

1. [OE] a belt or girdle.

2. slimy; full of phlegm.

3. an incised inscription.

4. labor; parturition; travail. [Obs.]

5. the green stinky bean (_Parkia speciosa_)

6. a medical condition that causes constant twitching.

7. the chief climber or leader in climbing rocks for sea-fowl.

8. sour cream with sliced gherkins, served as a side dish to stew.

9. the very bitter extract of the roots of Geum urbanum [used to treat rabies].

10. [Poetry] a short poem in which the last letters of each successive line form a word.

11. a leather strap on a trunk or chest; usually two or more were required to secure the lid.

12. a type of speech impediment characterized by the rearranging of sounds in a word (e.g. topato for potato).

The deadline for votes is 46+ hours from now: Monday, March 11, at 9 am US EDT. (The U.S. goes onto Daylight Saving, aka Summer, time during the voting period.) According to timeanddate.com <http://timeanddate.com/>, that is:

and other times in other places. Please check any conversion that applies to you. That site is good, but nobody's perfect.

New players are welcome to vote. Submitting a definition is not a requirement for voting; the only requirement is that you not know what this word means. Full rules at http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules <http://www.dixonary.net/game-rules-and-advice/rules> .

Vote on!

Efrem

I apologize if I voted twice. I distracted by a pet, lost track of what
I was doing, and couldn't find any evidence that I had finished voting.
On the other hand, the saying is "vote early and vote often".

12. a type of speech impediment characterized by the rearranging of sounds
