Default [Dixonary] OT: Trouble Sending Messages in past

I have sent a fake definition to Efrem. In the past, my messages to him
have failed to arrive, and my household internet manager (a.k.a husband)
has never been able to figure out why. I asked Efrem to confirm receipt
of the definition, but of course if he doesn't receive it...

P.S. I am using Thunderbird. I thought there was a Thunderbird option
for a receipt, but I couldn't find it. Does anyone know whether Tbird
does have that option, and if so, how to invoke it?

Guerri,

I got your def and sent you a confirmation along with an attempt at humor that I won't repeat here.

By way of proving I really got it, and hopefully without giving anything away: you had two spaces before the last word, as you will see if you check the outbound message in your Sent Messages folder (or whatever Tbird calls it). I removed one of them.

Hey, you could have changed the whole fake def, and it wouldn't have
mattered to me. Unless, of course, too many people voted for it and I
became the next dealer, and to avoid a massive guilt complex had to
actually deal, having sworn not to duck out no matter what personal
issues I might have in addition to the usual sloth and gluttony.

Well, one of my complaints with my current version of Tbird, which may
not be applicable to my message with the fake def, at least this time,
is that if one replies to a message, instead of putting the reply into
the "sent messages" folder, Tbird puts it wherever the "replied to"
message resides. I don't happen to like that, and would like sent
messages to go into the "sent" folder. Possibly there is a setting that
can be made to change that.

My guess is that someone, or perhaps many someones wanted replies
handled the new way. In effect it "threads" the messages. The down side
is that messages I sent are not all together, so I cannot easily see
them all at once. I haven't investigated thoroughly, but if I initiate a
conversion with person X, what happens. My original message presumably
goes into the "sent" folder. If the recipient replies, then what? My
original message is presumably still in the sent folder, and not
together with the reply. Maybe the thinking is that many people include
a copy of the message they are replying to along with the reply itself
so there's no need to unearth the original message.

Guerri

if you Right-click email folder one of the drop-down menu options is the
"settings" for your email folder, one of the options in the dialog is
"Copies & Folder" and in that is most everything you might want in this
context

Me personally, I chose things for all folders mentioned to be as
sub-folders of the account itself. I use TB to control about a dozen
different email accounts so to have everything in Local Folders is a
pain - I'd rather that my messages sent from account ABC are in the sent
Folder for ABC while those sent from XYZ are in the sent folder for XYZÂ*
and so-on

Hope this helps

Default Re: [Dixonary] OT: Trouble Sending Messages in past

Wasn't sure whether I should reply just to you or not. I don't see
anything called "email". What I have at the left as I write this is a
list with my name and an envelope at the left of it, then inbox, drafts,
templates, sent, archives, trash, 2018, dixonary. Under that group isÂ*
Local folders (a bolded heading), which includes trash, outbox, archive
dixonary, and family. I am pretty sure that "family" is a folder I
created as is the Dixonary folder. There are two trash folders. I am not
sure whether that extra trash folder was because Tbird assumes I will
create so much trash that I will need two folders to hold it all, or
whether Tbird thinks I want to segregate my trash, or what. One trash
folder is under the main heading and the other trash folder is under the
local folders heading.

Maybe some of my folders are not folders of the account itself. I do
have another Email account that I set up so that when I order things
online, the resulting correspondence will be segregated from my regular
Email which contains more important messages such as those related to
the Dixonary game. I am not sure why there is a 2018 folder. I don't
think I created it. Possibly the Tbird thought people might want to
segregate messages by year.

My other account is a Gmail account and this conversation makes me
wonder whether I could use Tbird to access it. But although that might
be a good idea, a better idea is probably to stop using that account and
use my regular account and deal with the unwanted mail I get from people
from whom I buy things. Something for me to consider.
