Default [Dixonary] Round 2951 Word Announcement: FURPHY

That will teach me not to make up a def after reading my eldest grandson's
mathematics textbook (in which I didn't understand a word)!

The new word is:

*******************
* *
* FURPHY *
* *
*******************

Please send your fake defs and DQs to me by email to dix (AT) timlodge (DOT) co.uk
before the deadline of:

10:00 UTC on Thursday 3rd January which is:
11:00 CET
5:00 AM EST
2:00 AM PST
21:00 AEDT in Melbourne
23:00 NZDT in New Zealand

New players are welcome. Don't look up the word, but just send me a fake
and fanciful definition of the word.

Default [Dixonary] Round 2951 Word Announcement: FURPHY

Eagle-eyed Shani has just pointed out to me that Dave Cunningham dealt
FURPHY in Round 2882 in March this year. None of the six other submitters
so far had noticed, not had I. Unfortunately, it doesn't yet appear in the
used word list or in the word checker. After a lot of thought, I've
decided that the fairest thing to do is to restart the round with a new
word, which I will post very shortly.

I thought it sounded familiar but assumed I had simply seen it elsewhere. I guess it's time for an updated word list.

Yes, I thought it sounded a bit familiar too, but I thought that was just
because I had it on my list of potential words.

We miss Dodi, who used to spot these errors as soon as the word was posted.

I am the one who is meant to keep the list updated -- I plead guilty -
but As I was out for nearly 2 months I will have to go back and catch
what is missing ( have a gap between 2918 and 2946 inclusive) - then I
will post a new set

sorry
