We have a bumper crop of 15 definitions for WIFTY, one of which is the genuine article. Please vote for two, by public reply to this message, before deadline, which is 6:00 AM EDT on Friday, May 22, 2020, or 3:00 AM PDT .

A "housewife" (pronounced "hussif", I was told, but that may be regional) was the term for a mending
kit issued to British soldiers. I still have one bought from a surplus shop and used when camping.

Tim B is absolutely right about the housewife and its pronunciation. I was
issued with one when I joined the Royal Air Force nearly 60 years ago, and
spent my first week using the contents to sew nametags on all my clothes, .
