[Dixonary] OT: Ad Blocker?

There are a couple of online games I like. I have noticed over the past
few days, that one of them loads very slowly. This is new behavior, and
because there is another site with the same type of game, I have ignored
it until now. I have found out, I forget how, but probably some kind of
message at the site, that it would load faster if I disabled my "ad
blocker". So I say to myself: "ad blocker"? Was I sleep walking and
somehow managed to go online and install an ad blocker?

I looked at my Firefox "content" setting which says "block pop up
windows". Could that be what is considered an ad blocker (desirable in
my opinion). If so, I could presumably turn it off for that particular
site. Or I could just give up on the site.

I hate to give up, but as I get older .... (if you are old enough you
can fill in the blank here).
