[Dixonary] Round 3042 SAROS Defs - Vote Now!

Here we have 13 imaginative defs of the word SAROS, only one of which comes
from my dictionary. Please vote for your two favoutites by public reply to
this message before the deadline, which is:

09:00 UTC/GMT on Thursday 16th January
10:00 CET
4:00 AM EST
1:00 AM PST
20:00 AEDT in Melbourne
22:00 NZDT in New Zealand

New players are welcome - just don't look up the word until after you've
voted.

-- Tim L

*** SAROS***

1. a horn shaped pastry.

2. a mischievous prank or antic.

3. the ancient Egyptian god of farming.

4. a medium-dry sherry similar to Amontillado.

5. a purple dye of unknown origin used in ancient Greece.

6. the 'pitcher' of a pitcher-plant [fr. generic name Sarracenia]

7. an area for ceremonial dances outside an ancient Greek temple.

8. a common mold, usually rust-colored, with microscopic airborne spores.

9. [Lit] A rhetorical shift or dramatic change in thought and/or emotion.

10. _Ancient History_ The Babylonian name for the number 3600, and hence
for a period of 3600 years.

12. in Hellenism, a supplicatory method which aims to position the
supplicant as submissive to and receptive toward the will of their deity,
most commonly associated with Athena, Gaia, Hera, Hestia, and Phanes, as
well as other deities associated with fertility, domesticity, guidance, and
wisdom

13. a card game in which the players bet on the appearance of a particular
rank when two cards are taken from the top of a dealer's pack. If the
player's rank appears first, the bet is lost; if it appears second, the bet
is won; and if it doesn't appear, the player has the option of changing the
wager before the next hand.

*~Bending under the weight of His mercies~*

The God Who created everything there is, is also rich in mercy and love
towards us. But man’s sinfulness has separated us from God.Sin is missing
the mark of being 100% holy as God is holy—His will for us. God
demonstrated His love by becoming like us, only perfectly, living, walking,
teaching, healing, among us, and then dying publicly and finally rising
from the dead 3 days later. This sacrificial death PAID for our sins and
CREDITS us with His righteousness when we believe in Him and what He did. By
100% relying on Messiah’s work and not our own good deeds, He saves us and
gives us eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the Gift of God
is eternal life through Jesus the Lord.Would you accept this Jesus into
your life and His forgiveness of your sin?

I only count 12 defs.Â* #11 seems to have gone missing.Â* And since I don’t see my def, I assume #11 must have been mine. :)

I’ll go with the purple dye and rust-colored mold, 5 and 8.

No idea...whatsoever. But I will bite for:

#6 - the pitcher

#7 - the Greek dance floor

[Dixonary] Round 3042 SAROS Defs - Vote Now!

Seeing as there's no #11, I'm going to assume it's not just Widdis's
definition that's missing. The real definition must be gone as well,
because I don't believe any of them.

So once again, I'm voting for the Wyld Stallyns: 6 & 9, dudes.
