[Dixonary] OT: Balmy Weather

It's a nice day here in SC, comfortable temperature and a little breeze.
So I sat on the porch for awhile, hoping a hummingbird would discover
our newly hung feeder, and I admired the word 1692 growing at the corner
of the porch. Of course I ignored various things that should be done,
such as cleaning off the rest of the chairs, and never mind certain yard
chores.

That sounds lovely... we're having a balmy autumn here after a record hot
summer. What does the 1692 stand for?

I think it refers to the word dealt in round 1692. Unless it's the year of
her birth.

Re: [Dixonary] OT: Balmy Weather

Scott Crom, who stopped playing before I came along, dealt round 1692. First he dealt GOMBEEN, a pejorative Irish term for a shady wheeler-dealer. After withdrawing that word, he dealt YAUPON, a species of holly native to southeast North America (which I think includes South Carolina). This fits the context.

Re: [Dixonary] OT: Balmy Weather

You didn't know I was born in 1692?

YAUPON was the word dealt in round 1692 by Scott Crom. It is a holly of
some kind. At the time it was dealt, we had recently moved into our
current house, as I recall, and didn't know that we had a Yaupon of our
very own.
