[Dixonary] OT: mobile access?

Hey everyone,

I usually access this site on work breaks, but when I'm on vacation or
there's a holiday or whatever, I end up missing out a lot.

I've looked in the apple store for a Google Groups client, and there
doesn't seem to be an official release. Have any of you tried to connect
via mobile? Are there any good, relatively reputable and/or secure options
you know of?

Rx.

Hi Ryan

I get dixonary messages sent to my gmail account, which I can access on my
mobile phone. This means I you don't have to access the Google groups site,
but you can play from your email.

Shani and Ryan,

I do the same thing as Shani. I always play via email, whether it's from my laptop or my phone.

Re: [Dixonary] OT: mobile access?

Ryan:

You can set up email delivery in the Google Groups interface. First go
to the membership and email settings, using one of the two icons in the
top-right corner, as shown below:

In the window that opens, choose your email delivery settings:

My preference is to get an email for every message in the group (the
bottom option). I think at least one of the members uses the daily
summaries option, to reduce inbox clutter.

You can also request one of the group moderators to set this up for you.
I happen to be one of the moderators. :)
So if you prefer the full-service treatment, let me know which option
you prefer.

Oh, one last thing. When you send a reply to an email from the group, it
will automatically be posted to the group. This is fine when you select
your two favorite defintiions. But when you submit your own defintion,
you need to remember to change the "To" field in the email before sending.
(When you use the daily summaries or the combined updates option, you
may also need to change the "Subject" field to help the recipient figure
out what round you are responding to; and to prevent Google Groups from
breaking the thread).

HTH

Cheers,
Hugo

Re: [Dixonary] OT: mobile access?

I believe I am the subscriber with Daily Summary on, because I hate email clutter.

I like the desktop interface, because I’m easy to confuse when things aren’t in thread view.

Also, I just discovered that the mobile web version of the group is my least favourite.
